Riparian Areas Regulation Assessments

Under the authority of the Provincial Fish Protection Act, the Riparian Areas Regulation (RAR) specifies methods to determine development setback distances from streams and other watercourses that contain fish or are directly connected to fish bearing waters.

The RAR applies to most residential, commercial or industrial development activities within 30 m of a watercourse (wetlands, ponds, lakes, rivers, creeks, brooks, springs and some ditches).

If development is proposed within 30 m of a watercourse, the RAR requires that an assessment be completed by a Qualified Environmental Professional (QEP).  Streamline's Registered Professional Biologists are qualified and experienced in conducting RAR assessments.
